Fifth Grade Home
Welcome to Fifth Grade
This is a pivotal year in which students and teachers work in partnership to prepare for middle school. 5th grade students rotate between teachers, helping them grow accustomed to being organized and managing responsibilities. In addition, It allows students to learn from teachers who are experts in their subject areas while being exposed to different teaching styles.
Fifth graders will continue to develop reading strategies and skills.
We will cover place value, multiplication, division, adding and subtracting decimals, multiplying and dividing decimals, adding and subtracting fractions, multiplying and dividing fractions, geometry, measurement, and finding the volume of a shape.
Students will learn about the nature of science, the solar system, weather systems, matter and properties, body systems, forces and motion, heat and energy, and organisms and their environment.
Students in the fifth grade also have the opportunity to join our Safety Patrol team, appear on our morning news, participate in the spelling bee, and write and present a speech for the 4H Public Speaking Contest.
