ESE Resource

ESE Resource

ESE Resource classes provide targeted support for students who qualify through an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Resource teachers collaborate with classroom teachers to help students succeed in the general education curriculum. Services are typically offered part-time in a pull-out setting and focus on individualized goals in areas such as reading, math, and social skills. Instructional strategies and interventions are tailored to each student’s needs as outlined in their IEP.

Welcome to K-2 ESE Resource! I love teaching so much that I have been a teacher for more than 30 years at Killearn Lakes! Before that, I worked for 5 years at Woodland Hall Academy. I’m currently teaching ESE resource, where I enjoy helping children feel successful and build their confidence as learners.

I have a wonderful husband, Carl, and three children; Travis, Amy, and Taylor. I am fortunate that all of my children and my five precious grandchildren all live in Tallahassee.

I earned my Elementary Education degree at Stetson University in Deland, Florida. I am certified in Specific Learning Disabilities, and have endorsements in ESOL and Reading. Florida State University was a great place to earn my master's degree in Educational Leadership & Administration. In 2002, I earned National Board Certification.

Emma Swallow - 3 ESE Resource

Hi there! I'm Emma Swallow, and I'm so excited to be your child's 3rd grade resource teacher at Killearn Lakes this year. This is my first year teaching, and I can't wait to make it a great one!

A little about me: I earned my Bachelor's degree in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and Elementary Education, and I'm passionate about helping every student feel supported, challenged, and confident in their learning journey.

Outside the classroom, I've called Tallahassee home for the past 5 years and love everything about this community. At home, I'm kept company (and thoroughly entertained) by my dog, Percy, and my cat, Comet — they're basically my co-teachers when it comes to patience and stamina! My hobbies include reading, being outside and spending time with my friends and family.

I'm looking forward to a year full of learning, growth, and fun. Please feel free to reach out anytime — I'm so glad to be partnering with you in your child's education this year!
